Windows blocked the installer? Here is how to run it

FakeCam is safe. Because it is a new app that Microsoft does not recognize yet, Windows may show a blue "Windows protected your PC" message the first time you run the installer. To continue:

The "Windows protected your PC" warning with the "More info" link
1On that message, click "More info".
The "Run anyway" button shown after clicking "More info"
2Then click "Run anyway" to start the installation.

If your browser removes the file while downloading, choose "Keep". These warnings appear only because FakeCam is new and not yet widely downloaded; they do not mean the app is unsafe.

What's New — Version 2.0

  • Completely redesigned interface: a cleaner, more modern look throughout the app.
  • New Playlist: queue several videos and images, play them one after another with automatic advance, and reorder them by drag and drop.
  • Introducing FakeCam PRO. The app stays free to use; an optional one-time PRO purchase removes the watermark, includes all future updates, and supports ongoing development.
  • New one-click Windows installer that sets up the virtual camera automatically. A portable ZIP version is still available if you prefer.
  • Numerous smaller improvements and stability fixes for a smoother experience.

Older Versions

Version 1.1 2026-06-13

  • New: multilingual interface - available in 9 languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, Japanese), with automatic detection of your Windows language. Change it any time in Settings ▸ Language.
  • Fixed video lag: videos now stream at their real frame rate, so clips (especially 60 fps) play at the correct speed instead of in slow motion.
  • Added support for .ts, .m2ts and .mts video files.
  • New Mirror option - the camera image is no longer flipped by default, so text in your videos reads the right way around.
  • You can now unload the current file via File ▸ Close media (Ctrl+W).
  • Lower CPU usage, and a redesigned About dialog.
  • Stability fixes: fixed a possible crash when seeking during playback, Play and Stop are no longer clickable when no media is loaded, and minor memory leaks were fixed.

Version 1.0 2026-06-01

  • Initial release: stream any video or image file as a virtual webcam, with looping, mirror and resolution options.
