What is FakeCam?

FakeCam is a virtual webcam application for Windows, free for personal use. It lets you stream any video or image file as a webcam feed to apps like Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, Telegram, and any other application that uses a camera.

How do I install FakeCam?

Download the latest version from the download page, extract the ZIP file to a folder, and run FakeCam.exe. No installer or account is required.

How do I register the virtual camera?

Click the Register button in the Virtual Camera section. Windows will prompt you for administrator permission. Once registered, FakeCam will appear as a camera device in all your applications.

Which apps work with FakeCam?

FakeCam works with any application that uses a webcam through DirectShow. This includes Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Telegram, Google Meet, Discord, OBS, and many more.

What file formats are supported?

FakeCam supports common video formats (MP4, AVI, WMV, MKV, MOV) and image formats (JPG, PNG, BMP, GIF). Videos can be looped continuously.

Why doesn't my app detect FakeCam?

Make sure you have registered the virtual camera by clicking the Register button in FakeCam. Then restart the application that needs to use the camera. Some apps only detect cameras at startup.

Can I change the camera resolution?

Yes, you can select a resolution from the dropdown in the Source section, or type a custom resolution. The change takes effect the next time the camera is started.

Is FakeCam free?

FakeCam is free for personal use - no ads, no watermarks, and no usage limits. Commercial or professional use requires a license. The virtual camera driver is open source (MIT license).

Does FakeCam work on Mac or Linux?

No, FakeCam is a Windows-only application. It uses DirectShow to create the virtual camera device, which is a Windows-specific technology. It requires Windows 10 or later (64-bit).

How do I uninstall FakeCam?

First, click the Unregister button in FakeCam to remove the virtual camera device from your system. Then simply delete the FakeCam folder. No registry entries or other files are left behind.
